Cardiff City. The Welsh wonders are in the Premier League while their rivals, Swansea City, sit in the Championship. Hoping to return one day soon. However, Cardiff have lost their first game against AFC Bournemouth, whereas Swansea have picked up six points from two games. Furthermore, Cardiff are up against Newcastle United in their next match. Newcastle will want to come out swinging after their 2-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
Perhaps it could be argued that Cardiff City doesn’t belong in the Premier League. Certainly not suggested by us, but have they got the funds and the quality to not only survive, but compete?
To help them climb that league table and at least remain outside of the relegation places they’ve got a new kit. We showed you their home kit a few weeks back but we thought it best to explore their latest away kit.
Designed by Adidas, the jersey is white. It features a pattern seen on several kits this year. The pattern is a checker board one, constructed of grey lines running horizontally, in various thicknesses.
On top of the checker board canvas, the club’s crest, Adidas’ logo, and the club’s main sponsor: Visit Malaysia sits. Furthermore, across the shoulders we see Adidas’ trademark stripes. The stripes are blue and run from the top of the sleeves up to the simple neckline.
It may be interesting to note that both the sleeves and the neckline remain un-tapered, with the exception of the inside of the neckline which has a small amount of blue running around the edge.
The nape of the kit appears blank and the pattern seen on the front seems to continue around the back. Although the checker-board element seems to have vanished.
The simplicity and complete design has resonated positively with fans. The kit has been well received and we at UK Soccer Shop love it. What do you think?
