Have you ever found yourself talking about football in a bar, a car, a barbers, or anywhere that facilitates talking? If so, your conversation might turn to money. Yes it dominates the game. Big teams are rich and small teams go bust. Furthermore, some say you can buy your way to the top of any league and RB Leipzig, a club formed only in 2009 seems to prove this point. They’re ruthlessly backed by Red Bull (yes, the company that made a jump from the stratosphere back to earth). And have been described as “the most hated football team in the German Bundesliga.”
But are they really that bad? Probably not. They have the funds and like any club and they’ve used them to get the team that will get them to the top tier of German Football.
They play their first game of the 2018/19 campaign on the 26th August against Dortmund. Manager Ralf Rangnick will hope his team get off to a flying start.
While it won’t be seen in the first game, Leipzig has teamed up with Nike, together they’ve created a simple, eye-catching home kit that will hopefully captivate fans. Furthermore, it’s a good example of less is more. Something we at UK Soccer Shop always appreciate.
The kit top is white, acting as a blank canvas for the club’s crest, the Red Bull sponsorship logo (they’re pretty much the same thing), and Nike’s trademark Swoosh.
The neckline is simple – bordered with red, and features a yellow section at the nape.
Along the sleeves are a series of red lines. They have the appearance of a children’s school project but we’re sure that’s just what Leipzig wanted. Furthermore, these red lines do appear like cuts along the arm. An interesting design choice.
Since their inception, Leipzig has shot up the promotional ladder and will now look towards the title.
