Portsmouth sits on the South coast of England and is synonymous with its historic dockyard, the Spinnika tower, and the football team. Some of the ships docked in Portsmouth historic harbour have seen fierce fighting, victory, and defeat. This is very similar to their football team. In 2009, the club had just completed their sixth year in the Premier League and their 17th in the top tier of English football. The following year they would be relegated. Furthermore, in 2011 Portsmouth were relegated from the Championship and in 2012, sent down to League Two.
It seems that now the club are back on the rise, having been promoted back to League One and having a settler season (one where they get comfortable before the next promotion push), Kenny Jackett will hope that his team can climb back into the Championship sooner rather than later.
To help them with their promotion push, the club have teamed up with Nike. A month or so ago we showed you their newly crafted home kit. Now, let’s take a look at their bright, bold, simple away kit.
The body of the jersey is white. On the chest sits Portsmouth’s crest, Nike’s iconic Swoosh, and the club’s main sponsor.
The neckline is simple, pointed at the front and tapered with blue. This blue contrast to the white can be seen once again on the tapering at the bottom of the sleeves.
Nike utilises their Dri-fit technology to allow breathability at all times.
The white kit top is finished with blue shorts and shocks, completing the kit and allowing a more finished look. We at UK Soccer Shop quite like this kit. It carries the club’s colours and retains a bright, simplistic feel.
Furthermore, fans of Portsmotuh FC have also responded positively, but what do you think? Is it too simple for you or does it hit the spot?
