Macclesfield Town Reveal Their 2018/19 Home and Away Kits by Macron
They’re out of the National League and into the fourth tier of English football. Macclesfield Town are said to be the pride of Cheshire and standing inside the Moss Rose stadium, it’s a fact that’s hard to argue with. Similarly to the crest’s blue, rampant lion, the players certainly displayed this defiant spirit in their 2017/18 campaign to win promotion. The club came first in their league and Mark Yates, as well as the fans, will hope that Macclesfield Town can keep up this moment and get themselves into League One swiftly.
To help them survive in this new league and hopefully truly compete, the club has teamed up with kit designers Macron to create a home and away kit that are stylish and uncomplicated.
We at UK Soccer Shop really like them, but what do you think?
Blue is the colour of the home kit. Perhaps Macron found inspiration from the rampant lion. Across the chest in large letters is “ZAM,” the club’s main sponsor.
The kit is horizontally striped with large lines running across the body and stopping at the sleeves. The stripes are two-tone blue (one dark, one lighter). The neckline is a simple ‘V’ shape, tapered with white.
Tapering on the sleeves often completes a kit nicely but here perhaps Macron thought it unnecessary.
Furthermore, the shorts are white with a blue boarder around them and the socks are blue. It’s a simple home kit and fans have so far received it positively.
Away kits are often harder to get right. With such a blank canvas open to you, do you opt for bright, bold, and eye-catching? Or subdued and subtle? Here, Macron have opted for the latter. It, like the home kit, is still a two-tone kit, however the two tones are charcoal and grey.
This colouring allows the club’s crest to stand out as the only colour on the kit, apart from Pro Seal on the shorts.
Finally, black tapers the simple, sharp neckline and isn’t necessary on the sleeves because they are already charcoal black.
Sometimes bold kits can be distracting but here Macron have ensured players’ minds are fixed firmly on the game.
We look forward to seeing how each of the kits perform next season.
