Kaizer Chiefs Reveal Their 2018/19 Home and Away Kits by Nike

Let it never be said, that quality kits are dead. That’s right, if you didn’t guess from that awfully dubbed line, it’s the Kaizer Chiefs! Yesterday we explored the Orlando Pirates’ latest home and away kits. They were stylish, if a little similar to a number of other Adidas kit tops. So let’s dive into the bold, colourful kits of the Kiazer Chiefs.

Nike create some of the best kit tops around the world. They’re entrusted to create sleek, dynamic designs and execute them effectively. We’ve seen it with Nigeria’s world cup kit, Portsmouth, and Northampton and now it’s time for these South African Titans, but who are they?

Founded in 1970, their 94,000-capacity stadium, the FNB, is located in Soweto. Since 1996 they’ve bounced around the Premier Soccer League and have been title champions three times.

While history is all well and good, let’s look at the kits.

The home jersey for the Kiazer Chiefs is a gorgeous burnt yellow. It doesn’t hold the garish brightness of Watford, for example. Instead it works well with the pattern that has been imposed on it.

On the home kit is a simple pattern, it’s a number of thin lines running diagonally from the edge of the top to the centre, with space at the top for the club’s crest, Nike’s Swoosh, and the club’s sponsor: Vodaphone.

But how has the jersey fared with the fans? Well, so far, it’s received almost entirely positive feedback. The neckline features a simple, small collar without buttons and is tapered with black.

The away kit is purple. Ontop of the purple, there are no stripes coming in from the side but does have black sleeves. The yellow neckline bleeds over onto the back of the kit and gives character to the nape of the kit.

The promotional photos seem to promote simplicity and stylishness.

We at UK Soccer Shop love these two kits. What do you think?
