Monaco is a micro-state, found in Western Europe. It is protected by France’s defence force and nearly 30% of the 30,000 population are millionaires. It’s a pretty sweet place to live if you can afford it. The images we see are mountains, a beautiful sea, and gloriously designed buildings. We see this scenery in the Monaco Gran Prix and then Google “how to become rich quick”. While the place might be stunning and valuable, they also have a football team – AS Monaco. They finished their 2017/18 campaign above Lyon and only 13 points behind PSG. Some argue that this is due to the extreme wealth in the area, however, in football, that seems to be where the sport is going.
To get them ready for the 2018/19 season, AS Monaco have already been active in the transfer window – competing with Chelsea and Arsenal for Russian superstar, Aleksandr Golovin. Furthermore, the club has teamed up with Nike to create a home kit that is simple, stunning, and carrying a positive, relevant message.
The kit has been positively received by most fans, but what do you think?
The home jersey itself is white. Across the front and back of the kit top is a large red sash. It is blood red and within it, the club’s crest sits as well as Nike’s iconic Swoosh.
The pattern within this red characteristic is made up of thin black lines that give the kit top further depth. The sleeves are white and inside the the neckline of the kit top are the words, “unique forever.” This is the club’s motto and fans will surely be proud to wear such a significant kit.
AS Monaco competes at the height of French football, we can’t wait to see if they can knock PSG off the top spot next season. Only time will tell.
