Stade Malherbe Caen Have Revealed Their 2018/19 Away Kit by Umbro
Their last two games of the 2017/18 campaign ended in defeat. Furthermore, they received a red card in both games. 16th place was where SM Caen ended up. This was safe from relegation however certainly not where Fabien Mercadal will want his team to be finishing next season. French fans will be on cloud nine right now. It’s almost certain that they won’t care about club football for another week or so. Pogba has been leading chants in the street and the international side has reached a level not seen in over 20 years. As the World Cup hangover kicks in and French men and women realise that they’ve got another four years to wait to win it again, their attention will revert back to what their favoured clubs are doing. Stade Malherbe Caen are certainly looking rather active in the transfer window and will hope to not only survive next season, but compete with teams like Nice and Strasbourg.
To do so, they’ve teamed up with Umbro to create an away kit that is incredibly fresh and very stylish.
The kit is white. That’s the second one today that we’ve seen. While Wolfsburg’s kit was simple and almost blank, Caen’s carries a subtle pattern and is littered with logos and crests.
The pattern that runs underneath the white is a series of inter-locked diamonds running horizontally on top of each other, across the jersey. Within every diamond is the club’s crest.
In the centre of the jersey is the club’s main sponsor: Inter Sport. Also seen are Kunkel and Thalazur, above the club’s crest and Umbro’s logo.
It is interesting to note that this season, Umbro has employed a unique style of tapering on many kits. However here, they’ve opted for no tapering on the sleeves.
We at UK Soccer Shop can’t wait for the 2018/19 campaign and see whether SM Caen can really compete with the big boys, or whether relegation is calling.
