New Football Kits

Newport County Reveal Their 2018/19 Home, Away and Third Kit

The fourth tier of English football is often forgotten about. League Two, to some, is a little too scrappy. Also the prize form promotion is playing in League One, another league that is often forgotten about by armchair supporters whose only interaction with football is through their television screens. The flip side of this is that it’s a league almost completely separated from money and saturated player value. It allows players like Akinfenwa, Jamie Vardy, and Harry Maguire to rise through the ranks and demonstrate why they’ll be household names in the future. One such team competing in this exciting league is Newport County.

Located in South Wales, the club have had a wonderful history. For example, in their 1938/39 campaign (yes, we know that’s going back a bit), the club was promoted to the second tier of English football. They beat off quality clubs to be Third Division South title holders.

Newport County have teamed up with FBT to create three kits that reflect the club’s past and listens to what the fans want.

The home and away kits are yellow and black in two inverted colour styles. The kit is very similar to that worn in 1938/39 and it is one quite stylishly adapted. The home kit’s yellow body is crossed with two horizontal black lines. The black also features across the neckline in the form of a classic polo-necked collar, complete with single button.

The home kit is finished with black shorts, allowing the club’s crest to stand out nicely.

The away just reverses the black and yellow (the yellow features are black and vice versa).

Finally, while the home and away kits are excellent and reflect the club’s heritage, it is the third kit that we love. It is white with orange and black triangles running down the left hand side of the kit top. While this isn’t a groundbreaking pattern or even the best designed kit, there is another reason why we at UK Soccer Shop love it.

The club held a fans association meeting and the third kit was voted on. It is a kit with input by the fans, for the fans. We love this club spirit and can’t wait to see Newport County’s 2018/19 Campaign.
