Porto is famously one of the most incredibly places on earth. The beautiful coastal town boasts wonderful views and narrow cobbled streets. Their football team could arguably be the best in the Primeira Liga. Their manager, Sérgio Conceição, led his team onto victory, finishing seven points above Benfica. While this is incredibly impressive, all teams in the highest tier of the Portuguese league are looking towards next season. While Porto do this, they have just released their latest home kit. It combines simplicity with style. It also looks a little bit like the Brighton & Hove Albion kit, but we don’t think you’ll get too confused.
Its white and blue stripes run vertically up from the bottom of the jersey. There is a break on the edge of the blue stripe which gives the kit extra dynamics. The collar is black, however it is not classic, instead opting for more subtlety. At the front is a button for added breathability. The collar is a contrast of style and classic, both working together well.
The shorts are blue and the socks are white. This colour reflection completes the kit and the bold lines really do make sure it is something special.
New Balance is a wonderful design company, so it was unlikely that they would do an awful job. It is also true that they were unlikely to do something as daring as the Senegal kit. By keeping the kit simple, NB have ensured that it can be done well. There is nothing worse than an over-cluttered kit.
Porto is famous for producing fortified wine. It is beautiful and a hot spot for tourists. By beating off the competition, the city has cemented itself as European contenders and with the release of this latest kit, fans at the Estádio do Dragão will certainly be impressed.
